Varuthini Ekadashi

Falls on the dark eleventh of Vaishakha. 'Varutha' means protection or shield — the Brahmanda Purana describes this vrata as guarding one against untimely death, afflictions of evil spirits, and divine misfortune. It is popularly held to be especially fruitful for householders and those living in hermitages.
