Chhath Puja

The main day of this four-day festival of Sun worship falls on the bright sixth of Kartik — arghya (offerings) are made to the Sun standing in a river or pond at sunset and again at sunrise the next morning. Primarily prevalent in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal, this austere vrata is now widely observed across India and abroad.
