Celebrated on the evening of the dark thirteenth of Kartik, two days before Diwali — buying gold, silver, and new utensils on this day is believed to be highly auspicious. Lord Dhanvantari and Lakshmi are worshipped, and wealth entering the home is said to be long-lasting. Note: some Drik Siddhanta-based panchangs give this tithi as November 7 — this one-day difference is a real example of panchang tradition variation.
