Maha Shivaratri

Observed on the dark fourteenth day of Phalguna, dedicated to the worship of Shiva. It is customary to fast and stay awake through the night, offering water and bel leaves to the Shivalinga. It is believed to commemorate the marriage of Shiva and Parvati.
