Poila Boishakh (Bengali New Year)

The Bengali New Year, the first day of the year 1434 of the Bengali calendar. Celebrated in West Bengal the day after Mesha Sankranti at sunrise (falling on April 14 in 2027). The custom of Halkhata (opening new account books), wearing new clothes, and distributing sweets is followed on this day.
