Lakshmi

Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune, and the consort of Vishnu. She is depicted seated on a lotus, four-armed, showering gold coins. In Bengal she is especially worshipped as the household goddess (Grihalakshmi) — many homes hold a small Lakshmi Puja every Thursday, and a larger household Lakshmi Puja is held on the Ashwin full moon (Kojagari Purnima), five days after Durga Puja — distinct from the pan-India Diwali Lakshmi Puja.
