Rama

Rama is the seventh avatar of Vishnu and the hero of Valmiki's epic, the Ramayana. Son of King Dasharatha of Ayodhya, Rama is worshipped as the embodiment of the ideal son, husband, and king — the concept of 'Ramrajya' is deeply rooted in Indian culture as the ideal of just governance. Ram Navami, on the bright ninth of Chaitra, is celebrated as his birth festival.
