Kali

Kali is the fierce form of Shakti, worshipped as the goddess of time and transformation. She is typically depicted with a fearsome countenance, a lolling red tongue, a sword, a garland of severed heads, and standing on Shiva's chest. In Bengal, worship of Kali gained special prominence through the spiritual practice of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Temples like Dakshineswar and Kalighat are major centers of Kali worship. Kali Puja is celebrated on the new moon night of Ashwin (the night of Diwali).
